The key to CrossFit isn’t that it takes you hours to complete your workout, but to put in maximum effort in the shortest time possible to achieve the biggest gains.
Aside from building fitter, stronger athletes, CrossFit also builds a community. Quite often the loudest cheer is for the person finishing last, with the team getting behind them to help them complete their workout. CrossFit isn’t just a fitness programme, it’s a family and one we embody at CrossFit Beowulf.
CrossFit’s founder and CEO Greg Glassman was first to actually define fitness. Before, no one could actually tell you what fitness actually is, even the dictionary defines it as ‘the condition of being physically fit’. Greg Glassman defined fitness as “increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains.”
Increased work capacity is the ability to do more.
Broad time means that you are able to do more in short, medium and long workouts.
Different modal domains are, running, jumping, weightlifting, bodyweight exercise, swimming.. and everything in between!
Once fitness was properly defined, he was able to create a program to enable you to become your fittest self.
